Depends: Tb is spread through the air from person to person when a person with TB in the lungs or throat coughs, sneezes or talks and another person breaths in the bacteria. People with urinary TB can also have TB outside of the urinary tract (i.e. The lungs or throat), which impacts their ability to infect others. Tb that is only in the urinary tract is rarely contagious.
