100.4: In general, a fever in a newborn is a rectal temperature of 100.4f or higher (38.0 celsius). If you are checking the temperature by other means (such as under the arm), it may register lower by up to a degree than the baby's real temperature. Fever is most urgent in the first couple of months, when the baby's immune system is at it's lowest. As your baby gets older, threshold for fever gets higher.
Dr. Irwin Berkowitz
Specializes in Pediatrics
Depends on age: According to the experts 100.4 f is a fever. Any baby under 1 month with 100.4 needs to be evaluated immediately because newborns are less likely to run fevers and are more likely to have serious illness associated with fever. Babies under 5 months with a fever should also be seen by their physician promptly. Older children with fever who look good and have no specific complaints can be observed.
Dr. Jeffrey Min
Specializes in Pediatrics
When less than 3 mos: It depends on the age of your child as well as other symptoms. For any baby under 3 months of age, a fever over 100.4 deg F taken rectally is considered a fever and an emergency. When your child is older than that, if they have any other concerning symptoms with the fever such as ear pain, deep cough, trouble breathing, lethargy, or the fever persists, you should call your doctor.

What are some healthy ways to get a crying baby to stop crying?

List of fixes: It helps if mom/dad make a list of what things they can do something about, for those times they are tired & can't think clearly. Offer feed if not fed within last 2hr. Warm if cold. Cool off if warm. Change if dirty. Console if in need of nurturing. A warm bath can relax them. If nothing works & baby is otherwise well, put on the headphones & let the kid figure it out.

Prenatal stress: You should talk to ur OB & if he/she tells you everything is okay you should not stress yourself. The baby feels your stress as well so it would be better to let your doctor worry &stress for your & your baby's health if needed. You should enjoy your pregnancy&be happy. If your doctor told you some thing is wrong, there may be other things you could do besides stressing. Use ur energy positively.

At conception: A baby's gender is determined at the time of conception. Depending on the tests done fetal sex can be determined at various times. In normal pregnancy fetal sex can be determined by testing mother;s blood at 7 weeks. In case of in-vitro fertilization, it could be determined before the embryo is implanted.

Depends: Bleeding, spotting and discharge after having a baby is very normal. The time will vary from person to person. Usually it stops within 3-6 weeks. Breastfeeding women sometimes will have irregular spotting instead of normal periods due to the hormonal changes.

Concern not confirm: The american academy of pediatrics has developed testing to screen children within the first two years of life at risk for autism spectrum disorder. Questionnaire forms are used as well as performance tests. Concern may indicate referral for behavior therapy. It may take a few years before definite diagnosis is possible.
