Arcus senilis: Without seeing your eyes, the most likely cause of a ring in an older individual would be this condition. A less likely, but important condition to check would be kayser-fleischer ring, which is a sign of copper build-up due to wilson's disease. Get an eye exam to be sure.

Arcus senilis: The grey ring is on the outer edge of the normally clear cornea. It is related to high cholesterol. See your family doctor or internist and have your cholesterol checked. It is not harmful to your eyes.
