Couple possibilites: Chronic ulcers in the mouth can be due to a few different reasons, it would depend on size, location, duration, and environmental factors. Regardless of the cause, whether auto-immune, viral, or traumatic, there are medications that can be prescribed to help alleviate the pain and lessen the severity of the episode or flare up. I would see a dentist for a diagnosis, to see if anything can be done.
