Lipoma: Lipomas are benign (non-cancerous) fatty tumors that appear under the skin. They are harmless and can sometimes be caused by blunt trauma. They can grow over time and many choose to have these lesions surgically removed (excision). In nearly all cases, removal is simple and can be performed in the office. Occasionally, these lesions can be tender, which prompts people for evaluation and removal.
