Metformin: As we grow older, we tend to become Insulin resistant, causing levels of Insulin to rise. Insulin pushes the sugar in the blood into our cells (especially the fat cells) where the excess sugar is stored as fat. This accumulates around the belly. Metformin (an anti-diabetic drug) restores Insulin receptor sensitivity, lowers blood levels of insulin, and reduces fat storage.
