No!: We used to blame all kind of symptoms to teething including rashes, diarrhea, fever and so on. We don't anymore. New research shows that teething should not cause any fever in most cases. So, if your child spiked a fever, try to find the reason for it, and if you can't find the reason for the fever then pay a visit to your doctor.

Not from teething: Most likely cause of this fever is a simple viral infection. However, if your 2 yo has other medical problems, isn't up to date on vaccines or has a change in behavior (very sleepy, not drinking fluids, not using the bathroom), you need to see a doctor. In the meantime, use Motrin or tylenol (acetaminophen) as directed for fever control and have your child drink plenty of fluids.
