A member asked:

I have my eritrocits sedimention rate very high, and i have been diagnosed with sjogren syndrom. are these related?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: An esr, actually an estegren sedimentation rate, is an indirect evaluation of general inflammation in the body. If there is any area that's 'fired up' so to speak, then your ESR will be high. Sjogren's syndrome is an inflammatory autoimmune disorder, causing irritation in several different organs. Especially during flares, ESR will measure very high.
