Seek evaluation: Abortion usually does not cause infertility. However, one of the risks of the procedure for an abortion include uterine scarring, which may subsequently lead to difficulty conceiving. While this risk is low, it is a possibility. If a couple has difficulty conceiving for one year (6 months if woman > 35 years old), a basic infertility evaluation is warranted.

Over a year : If you have been having unprotected intercourse with the same partner for over 13 months without getting pregnant then it is time to schedule a visit with a fertility specialist for an evaluation.
