What is the treatment for jaundice?

Phototherapy: Jaundice, or high bilirubin levels, is best treated with special "bili-lights", known as phototherapy. These lights produce a special wavelength of blue light that break down the bilirubin so your baby can get rid of the excess. In rare cases, if the bilirubin is very high, hospitalization may be required for a process known as an exchange transfusion.

Light therapy: The treatment for jaundice varies, depending on the severity and type of jaundice. For otherwise healthy newborns with mild to moderate jaundice, the most common treatment is light therapy.

Find the cause: You need to find the cause. See a primary care doctor. Possibilities can be from primary liver failure, to pancreatic mass, to gallstones with bile duct blockage, etc. The treatments all depend on the cause of the jaundice.
