BCP help acne: You certainly do not want to get pregnant while on Accutane due to possible birth defects. Most bcp will help acne. Your derm may be uncomfortable prescribing it so please see your gynecologist. Bcp can always be an adjunct to any meds your derm prescribes.

Depends upon you: That is a difficult question to answer without examining the person personally. Acne in young women which flares premenstually probably has a hormonal trigger and may respond well to appropriate hormone therapy. It would be appropriate to recommend hormone therapy with bcp's or spironolactone or not depending on the judgment of the clinician who examined you.
