Does visine have long term consequences?

Yes: Visine temporarily blanches the blood vessels on the white of the eye by constricting them. The effect lasts about 15-30 minutes at first, but with prolonged use it wears off faster. People then have to use the drops more frequently. Overuse can irritate the eye, does not treat the actual cause of the redness, and if too much of the chemical is absorbed into the body it may raise blood pressure.

Visine: Constricts blood vessels. Eventually causes more red eye and drying effect.
