Yes: Sometimes lactose intolerance can develop, especially after a GI viral illness or in older adults. Avoid lactose and see if it helps your symptoms.

Along later in life: Most but not all young kids (other than asian and african americans) can tolerate lactose then develop lactose intolerance later in life.
