A member asked:

What is brain peptides?are they different with brain proteins?hormones produced by the brain are mostly peptide or protein? how about dopamine?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Peptide vs protein: A peptide is make of a few amino aicd building blocks but a protein is made of hundreds to thousands of amini acids. When a protein is degraded , it breaks up into smaller peptides. Dopamine is not a peptide since it is a modified single amino acid. Hormones from the brain are peptides but some such as acth come from a larger precurose protein. Great questions.
