A member asked:

What is patellofemoral arthralgia mean? what are the symptoms of having that? also what does having a lateral instability mean in the knee ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Knee area pain: The patellofemoral joint is the joint where the kneecap articulates with the femur or thigh bone. Inflammation of this joint is not uncommon in young women and often resolves by itself in time. Lateral instability is the movement of the kneecap to the outside of the joint. It is also not uncommon in young women and specific exercises can help.
