A member asked:

How often do people with syringomyelia get scoliosis? and my mom said that my syringomyelia can someday end up paralyzing me...is that true?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Syringomyelia: There is an association that is not well studied and beyond the amount of space I have here. At 22 years of age you should have stabilized your spine. The syrinx should be followed but if it is stable it will not paralyze you. Maintain a normal weight and get into a good exercise program to promote a strong spine. Take vit d3 and calcium. Find a doctor to follow your course.
