Many possibilities: It may be a way you attempt to relieve stress or self soothe. If you are breaking your skin or your losing hair see a physician. If you want to stop, replace this behavior with something else that is more acceptable for you. If that is a challenge to do on your own, a behavioral therapist can help you with that.
