Complex development: Autism is a complex brain condition of varying severity usually affecting a child's sensory experience of the world. I often tell my parent's that Autistic children experience life at full volume - their brains can't learn to dampen sensory information. This can cause delay in development especially in language. Each case is individualized so work with your MD. https://www.autismspeaks.org/what-autism
