Dark spots : Dark spot or pigmentation of lip need to checked.See your dentist and he can better diagnose.Sometime it may be normal or may require referral to oral surgeon.

Saliva, no: Saliva does not cause dark spots to occur. Spots or pigmentation can occur due to a variety of reasons which can only be done if seen by a doctor. See either a dentist or dermotologist to evaluate this condition and determine if any treatment is needed.
