Can ribs get out of place?

Possibly: The ribs articulate with the spine in the back and breastbone in the front. These are technically joints and with enough forced can become disrupted.

Yes: Ribs have articulations just like other bones, so it is possible to have a rib displaced. You need to see your doctor. A physical exam and additional x-rays will diagnose the problem. Your doctor then can discuss treatment options.
