Where there's smoke: Where there's smoke, there's fire. The low grade fever and elevated white blood cell count suggest an ongoing inflammatory process. It could be an infection, such as infective endocarditis or osteomyelitis or an occult tumor...This is all speculation. You deserve to have a careful, thorough medical examination including a history, physical exam, blood and urine testing and perhaps other tests.
