Not necessarily: If hpt identifies pregnancy as positive or negative, it determines this based on the pregnancy hormone level (HCG) above a given threshold. This threshold is relatively low to allow detection of early pregnancies. Depending on the estimated gestational age at time of miscarriage, it may take a couple to a few weeks for the HCG levels to get back down to negative as detected by hpt.
