It should not: Green tea should not cause any weight gain, because the tea has no calories. If one does not add any sugar or milk/cream to the tea, and if she does not eat any snacks along with the tea, there are no extra calories to be gained. If there are no other tea-drinking habits that cause weight gain (such as if drinking tea has replaced her exercise), then a doctor can evaluate the weight gain problem.
