See below.: First, check with your doctor to see if it's really thrush. If it is, there are a couple of oral prescription medicines that work well. Over the counter, the only helpful thing is gentian violet, which must be painted on all oral surfaces once daily. It stains everything, including clothing, purple!

Rx: Nystatin oral suspension works the best but is by prescription. Gentian violet is otc but can stain clothes and is messy.
