Light-headed?: Unbalanced? If a person feels light-headed after getting up, he may be getting up faster than his blood can flow to his head. This happens more often if he has been in bed too often the past week, if he has a new fever or cold, if he hasn't been drinking enough liquids (or is on a salt-free diet or on diuretic "water" pills), etc... His dr. Can evaluate and check for low blood pressure.

Insufficient data: Unfortunately, "unbalance" is so vague, and can mean so many different things, that from a medical-history standpoint it's pretty much meaningless. You will not find the answer you seek here. You need a thoroughgoing history and physical examination by a live doctor in a real office. Do NOT trust a physician's assistant or nurse-practitioner to figure this out.

Imbalance: I agree with Dr. F. The examining physician or neurologist will want to know whether you feel the imbalance stems from your head ,your leg muscles or feet. Even visual disorders may cause a sensation of imbalance. Possibilities include inner ear or brain(cerebellum ) disorder, peripheral neuropathy, abnormality of blood pressure, heart rhythm as well as visual problems. Good history from you.helps
