Mastitis?: Mastitis is the most likely cause of breast pain in a breastfeeding mother. Most commonly the area of breast that's tender is warm and red. Continue nursing on both sides. Apply warm packs to the tender area, 5" before nursing, and massage toward your nipple while nursing. If you develop a fever or it persists, be sure to call you doctor, you may need an antibiotic.
