Psychotherapy: The best way to relieve depression without cutting would most likely be a combination of medication and psychotherapy. If for some reason you can't or won't do these two strategies, establishing and maintaining an aerobic exercise routine has been shown to alleviate mild depressive symptoms for some people. Daily meditation might also help. Last but not least: regular sleep and good diet.

Cutting: Meds and therapy together are your best bet. Get a psychiatric evaluation for what ails you (such as depression, as you say), and what cutting means to you as well as anything else that may be going on. Then get a referral to a reputable psychotherapist to help with the emotional issues behind cutting. Do it today.
