A member asked:

Why is it required to take anti-depressants with food?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Only some need food: Many medications need to be taken with a meal to be properly absorbed into your bloodstream. Some medications won't get absorbed and go right through your GI tract and others may be absorbed all at once and give you a big dose and then it leaves your system too fast. Among antidepressants, only zoloft and viibryd (vilazodone hydrochloride) need to be taken with a meal.
