Symptom treatment: Most sore throats are due to a virus. That means the best way to deal with it is by treating your symptoms. Drinking lots of liquids will help to sooth and moisturize your throat and wash out the virus. Some people find hot liquids more comforting. Tylenol (acetaminophen) or Ibuprofen often help and so does extra rest. Antibiotics are of no benefit, unless your sore throat is due to strep. Then the are a must.

Folk Remedies: I agree with dr. King. Try boiling freshly sliced, peeled ginger root in water until the tea is tan. Add 3 tbsp of honey. Sip! gargle with a mix of 1 - 2 tsp of apple cider vinegar in 1 glass of water up to hourly. It is imperative that you swish water in your mouth after gargling – otherwise it will erod tooth enamel.
