Antibiotics: First you need to have a swab of your throat so we can determine which antibiotic will work the best. You will then receive an antibiotic that normally works for this type of infection. If it doesn't work we have the swab test and your antibiotics would be changed. I would also recommend that you gargle with warm salt water(1/2tsp per 8 oz. Of water). Also, get plenty of rest.

10 days antibiotics: A 10 day course of oral antibiotics is required to completely eliminate strep from your system. This prevents complications such as rheumatic fever from developing. The most likely choice of antibiotic would be a penicillin based one unless you have an allergy to it.
