Many factors: Whether you get sick (nausea) after anesthesia depends on a number of factors: surgical site, type of surgery, anesthetics give and personal propensity. If there is a known history of sickness than an effort can be made to use medications that are not emetic. There are also a number of medications that may be given both preoperatively and postoperative to counteract or treat sickness.

It depends on Anesth: It depends a lot on the type of anesthesia you need for your procedure. If you can use local anesthesia versus general anesthesia especially with the use of narcotics, you probably will have a lot less nausea. As stated by a previous doctor, there are many medications that help prevent nausea too.

Prevention: If you have had nausea after anesthesia in the past, you need to let your anesthesiologist know beforehand. There are medications and techniques we can use to minimize the chances of it happening again. The key is early communication. I hope that this helps.
