Can dermatomyositis patients have a healthy pregnancy?

Yes!: This is an autoimmune disease effecting muscles and the skin. Most women have totally healthy pregnancies. Some women have flares during their pregnancy and some find they have a little improvement. The biggest concern is medications. Before pregnancy talk to your OB about the medications you are taking to control the dermatomyositis and if you should change or continue them.

Yes: Pregnancy in dermatomyositis is unusal and needs careful followup with high risk ob. It depends on the manifestations and how well it is controlled. In some settings pregnancy is not advised.
