Ambien (zolpidem): Not sure what other medications u take at bedtime, but by itself, Ambien (zolpidem) low dose of 5 mg. Should be ok.

Safe short term: It should be safe short term, but you wouldnt want to take the medication for a long period. Review your sleep hygiene to get a better natural sleep. No caffeine or food 1-2 hours before bed, no t.V. Or computer , ipad or phone either. Try to limit ambient light in the bedroom also. Also go to bed the same time each night if possible between 10 and 11 when your natural "sleep gate"or time to sleep.

USE CPAP!: You may use Ambien (zolpidem) but make sure you use your CPAP as well. The Ambien (zolpidem) will 'numb' your brain so may cause issues with oxygen and carbon dioxide. CPAP will help with 'keeping airway open'. This is the same as dinking or narcotics. This will decrease senses and increase your osa symptoms if not useing cpap.
