Hard one: If no routine testing for STDs has been done, you want to have that checked out. Occasionally, diseases that are not routinely tested for such as ureaplasma may be the culprit. I've heard that genital herpes w/out typical lesions was the cause of at least one case of otherwise unexplained discharge. Non-candida yeast species, such as glabrada, may be hunted for as well.
