A member asked:

I heard that intense exercise can skew your liver enzyme test results. is this true? thank you.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

It's true!: A very intense work out can increase markers of liver inflammation (ast and alt). These enzymes are also present in muscle tissue, ; exercise can cause a release of the enzymes from muscle. If you have had elevated liver enzymes on a lab test, i recommend when you repeat them, don't do any vigorous exercise for at least 24 hours prior to the test.
