Gastrtoenterologist: You should be evaluated by a gastroenterologist. Crohn's disease is a form of inflammatory bowel disease that is caused by multiple factors including genetics and the environment. The symptoms frequently overlap with ibs often delaying the diagnosis of crohn's. The work-up typically consists of a history & physical exam, blood work, imaging (e.g. Ct scan) and a colonoscopy. Good luck.

Your HC provider: This is definitely one for your healthcare provider. There are big differences between irritable bowel syndrome (ibs) and inflammatory conditions such as crohn's. Their treatments are very different. If you've never had colonoscopy, you're at the right age to get this procedure done even if you have no symptoms. The colonoscopist can see inflammatory changes of crohn's dis. Ibs would look normal.
