Good: L methylfolate is the bioactive form of folate, (folic acid) the one the body prefers the most. It prevents neural tube defects during fetal development, it also neutralizes homocysteine, a harmful chemical in our body that could be more dangerous than high cholesterol.

L-methylfolate: I agree with dr. Lopez -- and l-methylfolate also has a practical use in depression. It can augment the action of antidepressants. About 70% of depressed people have a genetic deficiency in l-methylfolate, and have poorer response to antidepressants.
