Get an X-Ray...: That's the real way to tell for sure. With the injury you described, it shouldn't be hard to tell then!

Need an X-ray: Broken is the same as fractured, we use the word fracture in medicine. Commonly an x-ray would be the means of determining if a bone is fractured (broken). Bruising can happen if there is any injury and does not necessarily indicate a fracture.
