Complicated: Shoulders are very complicated and even a minor injury can cause problems for extended period of time. As long as you are slowly getting better and better, that's ok. If not, may need to see a different pt, work harder at it, or see your doctor again. Swimming is great for getting shoulders back in shape by improving range of motion, and strength of muscles.

Follow up w/surgery: After almost a year weakness is possible but you need follow up for condition of the repair includig possibility of failure, retained infection, frozen shoulder or other associated injury. The possibility of chronic pain also needs to be evaluated for.
