Varies: Any surgery including hernia repair will vary from person to person in terms of healing. But keep in mind that you do need rest and reduce any workload to the area in the process of healing. There is a mesh which needs scar tissue to heal and it's best to avoid anything that will increase pressure to the area.

Take your time: There are many different opinions on how soon a person can resume exercise postop. I like to have patients wait 4 wks and then slowly increase activity based on how they feel. Be smart and don't overdo it and listen to your doctors advice.
