A member asked:

My 3 months old boy had 24h haltor monitor and results say max hr 236, min 101, ave 151bpm. is it normal? why is it that high? thx.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Rapid heart rate: Infants usually have faster heart rates than older children. The minimum and average rates may still be normal but the maximal rate of 236 may be abnormal especially if he is at rest or sleeping. If it slows back down to the average range quickly, it may not be a problem. I presume he is under the care of a pediatric cardiologist who ordered the holter monitor. His/her advice will mean more.
