It depends.: Thickening of the mucosa of the sinuses is an extremely common finding. Generally if it measures less than 4 mm it does not correlate with symptoms of illness. The rule is, one treats the symptoms, not the ct scan. If you have symptoms, the treatment for sinusitis goes all the way from nothing (it is usually viral and will get better anyway) all the way to surgery (only for refractory sinusitis).

Possible medication: Sinus inflammation can be caused by allergies, infections, infected upper teeth, etc. If you suffer from allergies, an antihistamine may do the job. If you have a sinus infection, often appropriate antibiotics, occasionally combined with a nasal spray (steroid) will resolve this condition. If the physicians cannot isolate the cause, a dental evaluation is in order.
