Yes: Apple allergy usually is from cross reaction with proteins from birch tree pollen and manifests as mouth/palate itching. This is call pollen food syndrome. When the apples are cooked (applesauce, pie, etc) the protein is broken down and no symptoms occur. For a smaller percentage of people eating apples cooked or raw can lead to a more severe reaction and they should be completely avoided.
