Avoidance: There is no treatment for contact allergy other than avoidance and oral steroids. Because of side effects, long-term or repeated doses of steroids is not a good idea. If you've developed a contact allergy to a hair dye, the only reasonable thing to do is stop using it. Patch testing by an allergist can help you figure out which dyes you should avoid.
