Yes: New onset allergic rhinitis can occur at any age. Cat allergy can occur 2-20 years after exposure to cats. A person can tolerate penicillin for many years and all of a sudden, have a reaction. While food allergies are more common in childhood, even adults can develop allergies to foods they have tolerated many times. Unfortunately, the exact reason this happens is not clear.
