Yes: If you have two recessive alleles that both code for a defective protein product, you will have cf. If one of the genes codes for a less effective sodium chloride transporter (the cause of the problem), the disease will usually be mild... But present.

Confusing question: Many of us carry a variety of recessive alleles to various conditions. If they are balanced by a normal gene, no problems arise. Estimates place us with about 4,which is why we don't marry our kin or we would have kids with recessive conditions.If you have 2 recessive alleles to CF, you will have CF.
