How inconvenient!: Care of staples is pretty much the same as caring for stitches. Keep the area clean and dry. Watch for signs of infection: redness, red streaking, discharge like pus, increasing pain. The staples are usually removed about 4-7 days after being placed. They are removed by a health care provider using a little gadget that lifts them up and out. You may feel a little tugging, but not bad. Not diy job!
