Symptoms: The level of exertion is often dictated by symptoms. Rest is ok, but staying active may help her be more in tune with her body and may allow her to recognize when she is starting to get worse. I always encourage my patients to stay as active as appropriate.

Serious: Agree with Dr.Torres. Your mom has very serious multivavular disease that must be followed by a cardiologist. Even with a decent LV ejection fraction the burden on her myocardium is severe. I assume she has cardiopulmonary symptoms and may need valvular repairs or replacement at this time. The timing of when to do these procedures is quite tricky and requires skilled specialists' assessment.
