Many: Any topical products can trigger dermatitis, lip balm, gloss, lipstick and facial products. Eczema can also affect the area if other skin lesions are present on other parts. Also, chronic nasal congestion and mouth breathing causes the skin to dry up and flake.

Dry flaky lips: It may not be contact dermatitis. If it is it may be related to lipstick, cosmetics, rarely foods. Try burt's beewax lip balm contains over 95% natural organic materials, which is extremely important for lips with our conditions. Perioral flaking: Not all skin flaking is due to contact dermatitis. Conditions such as seborrheic dermatitis & "ringworm" have flaky skin. A dermatologist can better determine a cause by examining the area as well as the flakes to r/o fungus, etc. & provide treatment.
