It gets easier with: Time to interpret your baby's cries. Unfortunately, when babies cry they swallow air. The smooth muscle of the intestine isn't synchronized yet to pass the air out. If baby seems gag when starting to nurse, he may need a burp. I'll ask my arabic-speaking daughter to help explain the " football hold" or "colic carry" to you to help baby pass gas. When all else fails, allow your baby to self-calm.
